2.6: Home: Part I (A Review) - So now that all the early season plot threads are coming together, theres too much story for just one episode. The result is a two-part story that slowly but surely triggers all the little plot elements that have been waiting for their time to shine. Since this is the first half of the story, theres not a lot of action, and the focus is on character development. Thats not a bad thing; its simply not as exciting as the last few episodes before it. Fragged - A Roadmap and Scorecard, of sorts... - Comcast cable describes this episode like this: "Fragged", (2005), As Adama continues his recovery under Dr. Cottle's supervision, Tigh struggles to maintain his authority -- and his sobriety -- amidst Roslin's reemergence as a political force. If you haven't seen this episode yet, consider yourself warned. SERIOUS SPOILERS CONTAINED HEREIN. I have pretty much made a synopsis of the episode, so if you don't want to know what's going on, READ NO FURTHER. July 2005
OT: James Doohan from the classic Star Trek died today. - James "Scotty" Doohan, dead at 85. While he did a number of different characters during his acting career, he made his biggest impact in the classic, television series, Star Trek, in the 1960s. This cult classic went on to influence generations of fans with its positive outlook on the life, taking a stand against bigotry, putting forth the idea that we can all live together in harmony and truly explore new frontiers of space when it was still only a part of our imagination. During the turbulent 60's, Star Trek stood out as a series that was neither naive nor cynical. Each week, we travelled with the crew of the starship, Enterprise, and James Doohan's portrayal of Scotty was an integral part of that series. We can only say farewell to Scotty. We truly believe he goes to a better place, and that, as McCoy said in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, " He's not really dead. As long as we remember him." Breast Cancer and Battlestar Galactica - President Laura Roslin is diagnosed early on in the series with the deadly disease, and told that her options are few and her chances slim to none. In the midst of this personal tragedy, she is thrust into an immediate fight for her life and has to assume the mantel of presidency while keeping secret her other silent enemy. Publicly, she works with Commander Adama for the betterment of humanity as they flee Caprica; privately, she battles the betrayal of her body as the cancer spreads.
